Dear Constituent
Welcome to my website and the regular update on my work.
I am still writing up my thoughts on my trip to Palestine during the recent Parliamentary recess and will post the photographs to a special section of the site soon.

Pictures from my trip to Palestine will be posted soon
The highlight of my week back in Glasgow has undoubtedly been the decision by City Council Leader, Stephen Purcell, to abandon all plans to allow a night club to be built in the Botanic Gardens. Well done to all the campaigners who have shown that genuine people power can change decisions. The other West End MSP’s Bill Butler and Patricia Fergusson are delighted as is our local MP, Ann McKechin, who voiced strong opposition and supported me in lobbying for a change of heart at the City Chambers.
However, despite our victory my campaigning for the West End goes on, it is not an extension of the city centre and licensed premises in the area cannot be allowed to expand exponentially.
I hosted a reception at Holyrood this week to highlight the work of the Workers Beer Company, a great organisation which has created opportunities for many young people to take part in music festivals whilst fundraising for a variety of causes and campaigns.
It is rare for a Parliamentary week to pass without a justice debate, this week we were debating the Justice Committee’s report on the resourcing of police services, giving me another chance to press the government on police numbers and public confidence in policing.
Finally, greetings to all my Sikh constituents on the occasion of Vaisakhi, last night Scottish Labour Leader, Wendy Alexander MSP, joined representative of the local Sikh community and the Indian consulate to mark the celebrations.
Thanks for stopping by.

Victory in Botanic Battle
