Dear Constituent

Welcome to my website and the regular update on my work.

This week I sought an update from SPT and the contractors working on the Partick Station modernisation, there has already been a year and a half delay and the new interchange won’t be ready until October at the earliest. During my visit to the site I met with SPT Chair, Cllr Alistair Watson, and made clear the concerns which my constituents have been expressing to me - one bit of good news though, was that SPT will give consideration to covering the bus station once the rail side is complete.

Keeping with the transport theme, I visited the bridge to nowhere in Anderston this week as I was keen to hear how it will soon go somewhere, thanks to the Connect2 project which succeeded in winning the public vote in the recent lottery competition. As well as being a vital link for the local community in Anderston, it also has the potential to transform walking and cycling options from the west end to the city centre. I spent a good part of the week listening to evidence at the Partick Tesco public enquiry, and my own submission is available to read here.

In Parliament, I called on the Justice Secretary to extend the scope of work on vulnerable witnesses to include witnesses who are vulnerable to intimidation and I have been highlighting the report from the Glasgow Women’s Support Project on men’s attitudes to prostitution.

Pauline welcome the RSAMD protest to Parliament

Highlight of the week was undoubtedly the lobby of Holyrood by students from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama who demonstrated outside Parliament with the RSAMD orchestra, while I put their case to the government at First Ministers Questions.

Unfortunately the response from Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, was a disappointing one and no SNP Members have signed my motion calling for the funding problems to be addressed.

Later, I met with students and management of the Academy and I will continue to push for funding to match their international reputation.

I also signed my colleague Elaine Smith’s motion on International Workers Memorial Day and I will be meeting the trades unions again soon to discuss corporate killing and the progress we still need to make to ensure safe working conditions for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by.
